10.6.5 University Diversity Officer

IGU positions diversity, equality, inclusiveness, and human rights among its institutional priorities and carries out activities in these areas through various structures that support related policies and practices. Authorized by the university administration, these structures contribute to the implementation of diversity- and equality-oriented policies, the execution of programs, and the organization of awareness trainings. In doing so, IGU ensures the sustainability of an inclusive and equitable university environment. A few examples of these institutional structures are presented below.
 

 

It organizes activities that promote diversity and aim to create equal opportunities among students.

 

It upholds equal opportunity for employees and implements diversity and inclusion policies.

 

Providing support for students' psychosocial needs creates an inclusive environment.

 

It ensures equal and accessible participation of students with special needs in educational processes.

 

Developing sustainability solutions in environmental, economic and social areas; guiding the policies of the university; conducting awareness activities for an equitable and sustainable society.

 

It ensures the adoption, implementation and sustainability of diversity and equality policies at strategic level.

 

Making cultural diversity visible on campus contributes to the representation of different identities.

 

To create equal opportunities among students, it organises activities that embrace diversity.

 

Facilitating the adaptation of students from different countries to the university, supporting cultural diversity and providing equal opportunities for international students.



These structures support the development of a holistic approach to equal opportunity, inclusiveness, and sustainability for both students and employees.

To implement its diversity and inclusion policies at an institutional level, IGU carries out initiatives through the Directorate of International Students and other relevant units. These efforts not only foster academic development but also promote cultural, social, and personal growth, thereby strengthening students’ sense of belonging within the university community.

Events Supporting Cultural Diversity

arious events are organized to encourage students from different nationalities to present their own cultures and to promote intercultural interaction.

Culture Day: An event attended by students from 45 countries, featuring dance performances, traditional cuisines, and stage shows celebrating cultural diversity and global unity.



Syrian Culture and Introduction Day: Organized by Syrian students, this event brought together more than 800 participants, providing an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Syria.



Academic and Social Integration Activities for International Students

Various activities are organized to help students adapt to university life and meet their academic and social needs:

Orientation Programs: Orientation sessions are held to provide academic guidance, psychological counseling, and success-oriented seminars for international students, supporting their smooth integration into university life.



Campus Tours: Campus tours have been organized for students from various countries to introduce them to the university’s faculties, laboratories, and social facilities.
