IGU is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and discrimination-free academic and administrative environment for all members of its community. In line with the Gender Equality Action Plan (2024–2028) prepared by the Gender Studies Application And Research Center, the university has developed policies and procedures to prevent sexual harassment and gender-based violence.
The policy is based on a zero-tolerance approach and applies to all staff, students, and stakeholders. Comprehensive reporting, support, and disciplinary mechanisms have been established to address incidents of harassment, bullying, or violence. Furthermore, the university regularly conducts awareness-raising trainings, seminars, and information campaigns to promote a culture of equality and respect.

IGU upholds the principle that all members of its community—including students, academic, and administrative staff—are entitled to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. In this context, the Policy Against Sexual Harassment and Mobbing is actively enforced within the university. The policy explicitly states that harassment, mobbing, discrimination, and mistreatment are unacceptable under any circumstances.
This anti-harassment policy applies not only to students but also to all employees and university stakeholders, remaining in effect across all university settings—from classrooms and dormitories to workplaces and social areas—ensuring a campus culture grounded in mutual respect and equality.
Enforcement and Complaint Mechanisms:
Students and staff can report any incidents of harassment or mobbing to official university bodies such as the Office of the Dean of Students, the Human Resources Department, or the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit.
All submissions are handled confidentially, ensuring the protection of victims’ rights, the fair execution of the process, and the implementation of preventive and deterrent measures as fundamental principles of the university’s approach.
The Satisfaction and Complaint Management Policy ensures that all complaints and requests are systematically recorded, reviewed, and resolved, guaranteeing a transparent and accountable process for addressing concerns within the university community.
Preventive Actions:
The university regularly strengthens its culture of preventing harassment through awareness trainings, seminars, panels, and orientation programs, ensuring that all members of the community are informed, empowered, and actively engaged in maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment.
Together with the Gender Equality Policy, the Policy of Equal Opportunity, and the Policy of Support to Women and Learners with Disadvantages, the university prioritizes the protection and empowerment of women and disadvantaged groups, ensuring fairness, inclusivity, and equal participation across all areas of academic and social life.
Institutional Commitment:
Istanbul Gelisim University is committed to upholding universal human rights through its Human Rights, Rule of Law and Justice Policy, and to ensuring a fair, safe, and ethical working and learning environment for all members of its community through the Ethical Employment Policy.
Through these comprehensive policies and strategies, the university continues to foster an academic and social environment free from harassment, safeguarding the dignity, safety, and well-being of all individuals within its community.
