Smoke-free policy

IGU has implemented comprehensive environmental and institutional regulations to protect individual and environmental health. In this context, the “Smoke-Free Campus” initiative, which has been in place since 2020, encourages students and staff to enjoy a healthier campus environment.

In line with the University’s official “Policy of Healthy and Hygienic Campus Without Smoke, Alcohol or Drugs,” dated October 10, 2024, the use of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and similar tobacco products is strictly prohibited in all indoor areas, semi-open spaces, cafeterias, and common areas on campus. Smoking is only permitted in a limited number of designated “yellow zones” located in the campus gardens.

This policy aims to protect individuals from secondhand tobacco smoke, reduce the use of addictive substances, and promote healthy lifestyle behaviors. It also seeks to maintain university campuses as healthy, safe, and hygienic living environments.
