IGU organized a comprehensive training program titled “IGU Support AFAD Volunteer” to promote disaster awareness and a culture of volunteerism. The training sessions were held on May 27–28–29, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the G Block Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Conference Hall, and on May 30–31, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Yeşilköy AFAD Training Center. Transportation to the Yeşilköy sessions was provided by the university's rectorate. As part of the 2024 Year of Retirement, IGU carried out a social responsibility project titled “Retirement Adaptation Workshop” in collaboration with the Social Security Institution (SGK). The event, held on December 16, 2024, under the coordination of the Continuing Education Center (SEM), brought together members of the Esenyurt Branch of the Turkish Pensioners Association. Participants received information on adapting to retirement, improving quality of life, and enhancing social participation. The event, supported by academics, SGK representatives, and university staff, was met with great appreciation. On January 12, 2024, an academic cooperation protocol between the Department of Political Science and International Relations at IGU and the Turkish-Arab Economic and Strategic Cooperation Association (TASCA) was renewed. The protocol was signed by Vice Chair of the department, and TASCA representative. With this renewed agreement, the academic collaboration between the two institutions is being further strengthened. Within the scope of the NEET Pro (EuropeAid) project carried out in collaboration with the Öz Gıda İş Union, IGU provided free vocational training and on-the-job practice opportunities to young people aged 15–29, contributing to youth employment. Supported by the European Union, this project served SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17 through a model based on university–public–NGO collaboration. Click here for more information.
